We finished all the Chinese paperwork today. That is a relief. It was also nice to be rid of all of that cash. It is nerve-racking to carry that much money around China on you.
Today was a tough day. We had to go to the civil affairs office this morning to get the rest of the paper work done. Then we came back for lunch and a nap for Scarlett, then back to the office to get our offical certificate of adoption from China. We are now done with the China part, we just need to wait for her passport which will be finished on Friday.
It was a hard day for Scarlett, we are not sure if she is getting a cold or just teething. She is chewing on everything and slobbery so that seems like she might be teething, but the other Ru Sister with us has a head cold, so we just aren't sure. So far she isn't running a fever, but does have a runny nose. We finished dropping off the paperwork for the passport and then were going to the grocery store. I really should have said that one of us should take Scarlett back to the hotel and then the other one go to the store, but I didn't... and the store was like seven levels of shopping hell. Luckily we had our fantastic guide with us to help us through, but the store was stiffling hot, both girls were crying. Scarlett wouldn't go to Andy, so I carried her for about 45 minutes with her squirming and screaking and wanting down. It was really hard. We finally got back to the hotel and got her settled down a little bit, we tried to get her to eat, but she wasn't interested. Janie gave her a little baby tylenol to see if it would help her feel better, and then we gave her a bath. She was completly hysterical the whole time, crying soooo hard. It was very tough, then we got out of the shower and we did the nose sucker b/c she is so running and stuffed up. Well you know how much babies love that thing... so she was completly tramatized. She slept for about an hour and then woke up and cried and shrieked for about another hour. We finally did some tag team rocking with her in between us and that settled her down. We both just felt so bad about it. We are hoping she might poop tomorrow and that will make her feel better.
So I am going to try and get some sleep. Tomorrow we don't have anything on our agenda so that is VERY nice. We just get to hang out with Scarlett and love on her.
Oh... I almost forgot, she is standing up on her own and walking with assistance. My prediction is that she will be taking her first steps while we are here. Exciting business.
Also, I did get a couple of giggles out of her today and Andy got some smiles. We also taught her how to make the 'motor boat' sound, so we were quite proud of that. She is of course a genius!
